Austria stay in the fight...

Another day, another belting game at Euro 2024.

This tournament has been so, so kind to us, and today has just been another cracker to add to the collection.

Austria were dominant today, and despite being pegged back by Krzysztof Piatek after Gernot Trauner's opener, they were not to be denied.

Christoph Baumgartner and Marco Arnautovic came up trumps after the break to ensure they ended the evening with three points next to their name. Fully deserved.

Now it's time to turn our attention over to Group D's other game as France take on the Netherlands.

I am going to shoot over to that coverage and take the reins, I hope to see you all there.

Catch you on the flip side!

18:19

SOFASCORE STATS: Poland 1-3 Austria

Now these stats are surprising...

Going off this, it was a fairly even game, but it certainly didn't feel that way.

I guess that's because Austria's chances were much bigger, I mean, they had nine shots on target to Poland's three.

That's why you watch football with your eyes and make up your own mind.

18:15

Rangnick's red army

No, I'm not talking about Manchester United...

Ralf Rangnick has really turned Austria's fortunes around since taking the reins.

Just look at that record, they could only dream of that a few years ago.

18:08

Pain for Poland

That loss practically ends Poland's hopes of progressing.

Their only hope of qualification is the Netherlands beating France tonight, and in turn, they would still have to beat the French themselves.

I hate being a pessimist, but frankly, I struggle to see that happening.

I think the Poland players do too, they looked gutted at the full-time whistle. I mean, you would be, wouldn't you?

A tough one to take.

18:05

WATCH: Baumgartner does the business

The celebration of this goal shows you all you need to know.

First of all, it's a sublime goal from Christoph Baumgartner, the finish was brilliant and the build-up play wasn't half bad either.

Then his first thought is to run straight over to Ralf Rangnick and celebrate with him.

It just proves how much faith they have in their boss.

18:03

Excellent Austria

I now truly believe the hype.

Look, I knew Austria were a good side under Ralf Rangnick, but not that good!

They played well against France the other night, and today they took it up a notch.

A team full of energy, partnered with quality. You can see how well-coached they are, it's truly impressive.

On another day they could have scored six today, but they will settle for just three and all the points.

A special display, they are certainly ones to watch.

17:54

FULL-TIME: Poland 1-3 Austria

A huge win for Austria and Ralf Rangnick!

The whistle is blown on what has been a brilliant day for the Austrians and a heartbreaking one for the Polish.

Rangnick's side just showed why they are rated so highly, that second-half performance was superb.

Goals from Christoph Baumgartner and Marco Arnautovic after the interval took the game away from Poland, and there was nothing Robert Lewandowski could do.

It was fully deserved, in truth, Poland struggled to deal with the Austrian pressure from the very first whistle.

The result now all but confirms Poland's exit, and you can tell that just from the players' reaction.

They have dropped to the floor.

17:54, 93'

BIG CHANCE! Poland 1-3 Austria

Nearly a consolation for Poland.

Kamil Grosicki drifts in at the back post and a cross comes his way, and boy is it inviting.

He goes for it on the volley, but he crashes his effort wide of the post.

17:52

FOUR added minutes

Four more minutes until Poland's nightmare is over.

They haven't been poor by any stretch, but they have just been outclassed by a brilliant Austria.

Their elimination is all but confirmed now.

17:47, 86'

BIG CHANCE! Poland 1-3 Austria

Austria have no mercy, that's for sure.

Somehow, they do not have a four next to their name on the scoreboard, but they should.

Konrad Laimer does all the hard work, he rounds Wojciech Szczesny and tries to tap into an empty net from a tight angle.

But the ball agonisingly rolls the wrong side of the post...

17:46, 84'

CHANCE! Poland 1-3 Austria

Oh, my word, Stefan Posch, where did that come from?

The full-back just decides he wants to have a go and arrows the ball toward the top corner from outside the box.

It looks like it's about to nestle in the net but Wojciech Szczesny beats it away at full stretch.

What a strike, though.

17:44, 81'

SUBSTITUTIONS: Poland 1-3 Austria

Ralf Rangnick has decided to make his final changes.

The two goalscorers who have taken the game away from Poland, Christoph Baumgartner, and Marco Arnautovic, have been taken off to mass applause.

Romano Schmid and Michael Gregoritsch are the two men to come on.

17:42, 80'

Poland 1-3 Austria

The Austria end is absolutely bouncing.

They are having a party, and you can't blame them, they know just how big this win could be.

It's not over yet, but it feels like it is.

17:38, 78'

GOAL!!! Poland 1-3 Austria (Arnautovic pen 78')

Cool as you like from Marco Arnautovic.

He gives Wojciech Szczesny the eyes and sends him the wrong way, burying the ball in the bottom right-hand corner.

That should be that now. Three points are heading to Austria.

17:37, 76'

PENALTY TO AUSTRIA!

Wojciech Szczesny takes out Marcel Sabitzer and Austria have a chance to kill off the game.

The ball is clipped over the top and the Borussia Dortmund man is away one-on-one, he decides to go around Szczesny and is brought down by the keeper as he takes the ball past him.

A stonewall spot-kick, and now Austria can take the game away from Poland.

Marco Arnautovic will step up...

17:37, 75'

CHANCE! Poland 1-2 Austria

That was the match, right there.

Patrick Wimmer has been a thorn in Poland's side since coming on at half time and he very nearly wrapped up the points there.

He finds space in the area and fires straight at Wojciech Szczesny, he should do better.

17:36

'Goal creates realistic prospect that Austria progress'

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

It was to Ralf Rangnick that the goalscorer Christopher Baumgartner ran after he had despatched the goal which creates the very realistic prospect that Austria might actually progress from this tournament's Group of Death. That's fitting - because they all feel he has made them competitive like this.

17:30, 69'

CHANCE! Poland 1-2 Austria

What a response that would have been from Poland.

Rober Lewandowski has had his first sight of goal and it's a decent one.

He takes a touch on the edge of the area and pulls the trigger, but his powerful effort is dealt with by Patrick Pentz.

17:27, 67'

GOAL!!! Poland 1-2 Austria (Baumgartner 67')

What a lovely finish that is from Christoph Baumgartner!

Austria are back in front and it's a beautiful goal. the ball is played across to Marco Arnautovic but he dummies it.

The ball then rolls into the path of Baumgartner on the edge of the box, he takes a touch and then bends it low past Wojciech Szczesny.

The forward runs straight over to celebrate with Ralf Rangnick.

17:27, 65'

YELLOW CARD: Poland 1-1 Austria (Lewandowski)

The flow of this game is in the bin.

It really is a stop-start match, and now Robert Lewandowski gets himself in the book.

Going up for a header with Philipp Lienhart, he leans in with an elbow and catches the defender.

17:25

'Poland's destiny in Lewandowski's hands'

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

Robert Lewandowski arrives from the bench just before the hour-mark to a huge response. Poland's destiny seems to be in the number nine's hands. There‘s a risk that these two decent teams will cancel each other out and effectively eliminate each other from the Group of Death

17:24, 62'

YELLOW CARD: Poland 1-1 Austria (Moder)

This referee is loving the sight of his yellow card, right now.

He brandishes it yet again, this time to Poland substitute Jakub Moder, and to be fair it is deserved.

The Brighton man scrapes his studs down the leg of Christoph Baumgartner. Although accidental, it looks painful.

Among all of that Alexander Prass is on for Austria.

17:21, 60'

SUBSTITUTIONS: Poland 1-1 Austria

And here he comes...

There is a huge cheer as Robert Lewandowski comes on to replace the goalscorer, Krzysztof Piatek.

Karol Swiderski is also on for Poland, while Austria's goalscorer, Gernot Trauner, has also been forced to make way.

Kevin Danso replaces him.

17:18, 58'

Poland 1-1 Austria

Robert Lewandowski is getting stripped and ready.

I bet all Poland fans who have noticed this will have smiles on their faces.

Not bad being able to bring a player like that off the bench to change the game.

There is a little break in play as Gernot Trauner is down receiving treatment.

17:17, 56'

YELLOW CARD: Poland 1-1 Austria (Wimmer)

And another, but this time to an Austrian.

Patrick Wimmer breaks his back to make up ground on Nicola Zalewski who is breaking away.

Rather than trying to slow him down, he just wipes him out. Was always going to be a booking.

17:15, 54'

YELLOW CARD: Poland 1-1 Austria (Slisz)

We have our first yellow card of the game.

The recipient is a player in the white of Poland, Bartosz Slisz. There are no arguments over that one.

17:14, 52'

BIG CHANCE! Poland 1-1 Austria

Now, that is a big chance!

Austria have started on the front foot and are causing problems again, and they arguably should be back in the lead, but Stefan Posch couldn't divert his header home.

It was a lovely corner from the substitute Patrick Wimmer to set up the chance, Posch was free in the middle and just needs to head into the corner.

But his effort is straight at Wojciech Szczesny.

17:09, 49'

Poland 1-1 Austria

Not such a blistering start to this half.

Austria are enjoying the majority of the ball, but unlike the opening period of the match, they don't look threatening with it.

Are nerves creeping in?

17:07, 46'

SECOND HALF: Poland 1-1 Austria

Both sides have decided to make a change.

For Poland, Brighton's Jakub Moder has slotted into the midfield to replace his namesake (first name) Piotrowski.

Austria have made a more surprising substitution...

Florian Grillitsch was impressive at times in the first half, but he has been hooked for forward Patrick Wimmer.

Anyway, the ball is rolling again.

17:02

WATCH: Piatek draws Poland level

Before we get underway, let's remind ourselves of how Poland drew level.

They had been struggling for the majority of the game, but just before the half-hour mark, they started to apply some pressure.

It quickly paid off when Krzysztof Piatek slid home from a corner - a huge goal for them.

Wild celebrations too!

17:01

Time for Lewa?

Right, when do we think Robert Lewandowski will enter proceedings?

My guess would be around the 65th minute, but maybe earlier if Poland fall behind.

While he has been struggling with a knock, a crocked Lewandowski is better than not having him at all.

He's a world-class striker for a reason, he scores goals when he is needed.

Can he make an impact off the bench in the second half?

16:57

'Austria should have made more of their chances'

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

Poland did well to come back into the game and were worth their equaliser but Austria should have made more of their chances. Christoph Baumgartner squared when the goal was opening up for him on the couter-attack. This scoreline helps no-one. Both sides will return desperate for a winner

16:54

WATCH: Trauner heads home the opener

Austria are known for their fast starts, and they certainly got off to one in Berlin.

Despite only being nine minutes in, it felt deserved when Gernot Trauner headed them ahead.

It's a fantastic goal too, just look at the willingness from Phillipp Mwene to get to the ball and deliver it.

Should Wojciech Szczesny have done better at his near post, though?

16:49

HALF-TIME: Poland 1-1 Austria

And there goes the whistle.

Once again, the European Championship is serving us up a cracker of a group match.

Austria started as they always do under Ralf Rangnick, they came out of the traps flying.

They got their reward for early pressure after nine minutes through Gernot Trauner, but that lead was wiped out on the half-hour mark by Krzysztof Piatek.

This game has plenty more to give, so don't go anywhere!

16:48

ONE minute of added time

There will be just a solitary minute of stoppage time.

Piotr Zielinski is standing over a free-kick in a decent position, and he lets fly.

The set-piece forces a strong save from Patrick Pentz, he simply HAD to make that save.

16:45, 43'

CLOSE! Poland 1-1 Austria

Marcel Sabitzer is really hungry for a goal.

And he comes so, so close to getting one. He decides to have a pop from 30 yards out, and it's a very strong effort.

The ball looks like it's harrowing for the bottom corner but it flies just the wrong side of the post.

16:42, 39'

BIG SAVE! Poland 1-1 Austria

Austria should be in the lead, Marcel Sabitzer has to score.

They race away on a counter-attack, it's three against two with Christoph Baumgartner leading the charge.

He slides the ball across to Marcel Sabitzer, who cuts inside and tries to bend the ball past Wojciech Szczesny, but he fails.

Szczesny rushes out with Polish bodies aiding him and produces yet another strong stop.

Sabitzer really should be doing better, though.

16:38

'A sudden equaliser'

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

Can Austria maintain their relentless early pace on a sultry night? That's the big question. Poland had started to probe a little and suddenly they have equalised. Jan Bendanek's shot hits a defender and excellent work by Krzysztof Piatek, pouncing on the ball to seize control with first touch and bury it with the second touch, right-footed.

16:37, 34'

Poland 1-1 Austria

Austria are trying to respond immediately.

Marcel Sabitzer floats a delightful ball into the back post toward Philipp Lienhart.

The centre-back is at full stretch to try and meet it, he gets there, but his cross-box pass beats everybody.

The equaliser has awoken the Austrians again.

16:32, 30'

GOAL!!! Poland 1-1 Austria (Piatek 30')

And we're level in Berlin!

It's not a pretty equaliser, but Poland won't care, Krzysztof Piatek has fired them back on terms.

Poland were starting to come into the game, and they cause chaos in the Austria area following a corner.

The ball is bouncing everywhere and it falls for Piatek and he makes no mistake from close range.

16:32, 29'

Poland 0-1 Austria

Poland are starting to enjoy a bit more of the ball, and are starting to cause Austria some problems.

Przemysław Frankowski bombs down the right-hand side and earns a corner.

The pressure is building...

16:28

'Polish defence is really struggling'

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

The Polish defence is really struggling here and all over the place. From a Welsh perspective, it would have been useful if they could have been equally lacklustre in that play-off final in Cardiff. Fair play to their fans though; they're still really giving it some.

16:27, 24'

BIG SAVE! Poland 0-1 Austria

Wojciech Szczesny to the rescure for Poland.

Well, Marco Arnautovic is offside as he is slid through for the chance, but the keeper was not to know that.

The Austrian number seven looks set to fire the ball into the net, I was about to right goal, but Szczesny smothers him.

The flag then does go up.

16:25, 22'

Poland 0-1 Austria

Sweeper keeper Szczesny!

Florian Grillitsch spots Christoph Baumgartner on his bike and clips the ball over the top for him to chase.

But the winger can't get there quick enough and the Polish keeper heads it away.

Lovely bit of play all around.

16:22, 19'

CHANCE! Poland 0-1 Austria

Have I jinxed Austria with my confidence in them?

Poland have suddenly woken up and Nicola Zalewski's eyes light up as the ball is floated into his path on the left.

He pulls the trigger but gets it all wrong - it flies over the bar.

Much better from the Polish, though.

16:21, 18'

Poland 0-1 Austria

Just as I say that, Piotr Zielinski actually decides to get Poland moving forward.

He drives into the area and the ball then seems to hit an Austrian hand, but the referee waves it away.

Poland are screaming for a spot kick, but it would be harsh...

16:19, 16'

Poland 0-1 Austria

I can only see this going one way.

Poland have barely touched the ball and now it's Marcel Saboitzer's turn to have a go inside the area.

He tries a first-time half-volley, but it's deflected harmlessly to Wojciech Szczesny.

16:17

'Austria's approach has paid a dividend'

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

The rapid start the Austrians are always looking for - and a goal. Precision half-volleyed cross from Phillip Mwene, who's started this game very well, and Gernot Trauner leaps to screw in an unchallenged header. Defender could have done better. Keeper should have done better. But even the Austrians' kick  off routine was designed to run at the Poles. The approach has paid a dividend.

16:15, 12'

Poland 0-1 Austria

You have to fear a little for Poland here.

Austria are not England, they will not try and sit back to protect their lead. Straight away they go for the jugular again.

Poland do manage to get it clear, but it's just wave after wave of Austrian attacks.

They are relentless.

16:11, 9'

GOAL!!! Poland 0-1 Austria (Trauner 9')

Austria get their customary early goal!

You can't say they haven't deserved it and it's the centre-back Gernot Trauner who heads them in front.

It comes after persistent work from Phillipp Mwene on the left, he clips in a lovely ball for Trauner who heads in at the near post.

The Olympiastadion erupts.

16:10, 8'

Poland 0-0 Austria

Marco Arnautovic is proving to be a nuisance for Poland at the moment.

He is holding the ball up so well, using his strength to keep it before going down and getting a foul.

It's already worked three times, and Poland just can't deal with him.

16:08, 5'

Poland 0-0 Austria

Austria have come out of the traps so quickly.

Marco Arnautovic's eyes light up as the ball is clipped toward him at the back post, but it doesn't fall quite right for him.

If the former Stoke man was a step or two to his right, it would have fallen beautifully for him to hammer home.

16:06, 3'

Poland 0-0 Austria

There is a lot of booing from the crowd...

Why? Because Gernot Trauner is penalised for bringing down Adam Buksa, and I must admit, I'm not sure it's a foul, but the referee thinks it is.

It comes after a sustained period of Austria pressure, they aren't allowing Poland to breathe.

16:03, 1'

Poland 0-0 Austria

I mean, Austria have indeed started brightly.

After just 30 seconds Marcel Sabitzer attempts a low-driven cross from the left.

It's blocked, but it proves their intentions for this match. It's got me excited, that's for sure.

16:02, 1'

KICK-OFF: Poland 0-0 Austria

It's very smoky in Berlin...

We are about to see if what Ian has just said proves to be true. Can Austria score early?

They get us underway...

16:01

'Austria have a habit of scoring early'

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

Forward Nicolas Seiwald told UEFA.com that Rangnick was ‘creating a new buzz in the country.' It was Rangnick who taught Jurgen Klopp what effective pressing really looks like when his newly promoted Hoffenheim side defeated the current Liverpool manager's Dortmund 4-1 in September 2008. 'We need to get to where they are now,' a devastated Klopp said in the aftermath of that hammering. 'Tactical behaviour is not like riding a bike, unfortunately. You have to practice, again and again.' Look out for a very high energy start from the Austrians. They have a habit of scoring early because of it

15:56

Here come the teams...

Just look at the sea of red greeting the players.

The two teams arise from the tunnel to predominantly Austria fans waving their flags. It really is some spectacle.

Then it's time for the national anthems, one of my favourite parts of the day. I love hearing fans display their passion for their country.

Austria go first, a decent rendition...

But the Poland fans blow them out of the water, in my opinion, despite having less supporters in the crowd.

15:54

Austria's fine form

Yes, they did lose their last game, but they have still be in brilliant form recently.

Their loss against France is one of only two defeats in Austria's last 17 international matches.

Not bad, is it...

Can they get back to winning ways today?

15:48

Austria fans in fine voice

I alluded to the noise Austria fans were making, now you can listen too it thanks to our reporter, Ian Herbert.

It's fair to say, Austrian fans are outnumbering Poland fans two to one. They are a dominating force out there.

Seeing these videos makes me jealous of all the fans who get to be a part of such occasions.

I envy them hugely (I still love my job though).

15:45

Group D as it stands...

Right, let's take a quick look at the group then.

Both Austria and Poland lost their first matches against France and the Netherlands, respectively.

They put up a fight, though, and will need to show that again today if they are to get out of the group.

Today is a must-win for both sides with the French and the Dutch facing off later.

Points on the board are needed.

15:40

'Almost certainly Lewandowski's last international tournament

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

Despite Polish fans' hopes that Robert Lewandowski would start, he is on the bench. This is almost certainly his last international tournament, so the 35-year-old's hopes of finishing his Poland career in style are resting on the outcome in the sultry late afternoon heat of Berlin's spectacular Olympic Stadium.

It's the battle of the eagles here. Both teams wear eagles on their crest. The Poles' white eagle is a bit more uncompromising if you ask me. The Austrians have an unspecified and rather bland breed on theirs. But the Austrians are hitting it with their noise. A sea of red and white flags away to my left and they're making all the sound

15:37

Final preparations

Kick-off is edging closer...

Both teams are going through the motions ahead of this monumental clash for them.

Surely, Austria will be heading into this match with a spring in their step knowing Robert Lewandowski is sat on the bench and not starting.

It gives them the advantage.

15:31

'Loser will almost certainly be going home'

Ian Herbert, Mail Sport, at the Olympiastadion:

This might not seem the biggest of the day but it has the greatest element of jeopardy.

With both sides facing tough third games - Poland face France next and Austria go up against the Netherlands - a win and points on the board are imperative here.

If there is a loser, that team will almost certainly be going home before the knock-out stage

15:28

Atmosphere building

Wow, what a sigfht this is.

The Olympiastadion is a sea of red right now (both team's colours), and it's Austria making the most noise.

This European Championship has brought some special atmospheres, and this is certainly up there.

Berlin is bouncing.

15:24

And my race is underway...

Tamara, you are always too kind to me!

I'm happy to be back in the hot seat for another blog shift, this European Championship has served up so many crackers.

This match is simply huge for both sides in what is being pinned as the 'group of death'.

A draw won't be good enough for either side, they just have to get all three points.

Surely, there will be goals.

15:19

My race is run...

... but my esteemed colleague Harry Bamforth is on hand to take you through the remainder of the build-up, minute-by-minute match-play, and all the reaction at full-time.

Until next time!

15:17

TEAM NEWS: in brief

Rangnick opts to make three changes from his XI to face France in their opener, swapping Philipp Lienhart, Gernot Trauner, and Marko Arnautovic in for Dansko - whose shoulder made tournament-shifting contact with Kylian Mbappe - Wober, who scored the only goal in the clash (for the opposing side), and Gregoritsch.

It will be of some disappointment to Michal Probierz that Lewandowski is on the bench rather than in his XI - he otherwise makes four changes, swapping in Pawel Dawidowicz, Jakub Piotrowski, Bartosz Slisz, and Krystztof Piatek in for Salamon, Romanczuk, Szymanski, and Urbanski.

TEAM NEWS: How Poland and Austria line up

Lewandowski starts on the bench!

PLAYER RATINGS: Which Poland defender struggled in his head-to-head battle?

Last time out, Poland thought they had subdued Netherlands to the point of the two sides walking away with a point each - until former Man United striker Wout Weghorst came off the bench and put paid to that idea just two minutes after his introduction.

But how did Poland fare across the full 90 minutes? Here, Mail Sport assessed the starting XI and their crucial substitutions in the team's opening tie.

PLAYER RATINGS: Which star shone brightest for the Netherlands?

Wout Weghorst proved the hero for the Netherlands with the substitute striking late to earn a 2-1 win over Poland in their Euro 2024 opener. Here, Mail Sport rates the players from the Group D clash.

Can Austria prove their quality against Poland

Ralf Rangnick has worked wonders since his appointment to the Austria dugout, and after cutting a swathe through qualifying, his Austrian machine were more than ready to get under way in Germany. Only to come up against... France.

Austria, it must be said, acquitted themselves well. For all of France's stratospheric talent, they were frequently frustrated by red-and-white ranks, and Rangnick's side will no doubt feel hard-done-by that they weren't able to claw a point back from the former World Cup winners.

Poland, therefore, could prove rich pickings for the former Man United's manager's side. One thing's for certain - their fans are in full voice ahead of this afternoon's clash.

14:47

Wojciech Szczesny sings Lewandowski's praises

The Juventus goalkeeper sounded quietly confident of the goalscoring behemoth's return, as he opined on his team-mate's greatness yesterday afternoon:

He is the best Polish player of all time and regardless of how well others will play, because Adam Buksa played a very good match against the Netherlands - he scored a very important goal for us - the fact that Robert is on the pitch is changing our overall approach and our opponents approach as well.

It is natural that his presence can only help us. When it comes to Robert, the more leaders we have on the pitch, the better. Having him makes a big difference. Robert's performance makes a big difference and I know the Austrians won't be happy he is fit.

14:45

A sea of red and white, and red and white

Supporting the red and white team should - barring a draw - see you go home very happy this evening.

Fans are already packing out the stadium with over an hour to go until kick-off, and its the Polish contingent who have thrown down the gaunlet with red-and-white dressing first. Your move, Austria.

14:32

Could this be an afternoon for Europe's best PE teacher?

There's no shortage of players with different-than-expected origin stories at this Euros. Take Slovakia head coach Francesco Calzona. Unconvinced by toiling in the third division as a player, he started working as a coffee distributor - only for the lure of the dugout to prove too strong. Now, his side's beating FIFA's third-strongest team, Belgium.

Even more wackier is the backstory for one of Ralf Rangnick's number, Maximilian Entrup. A handful of years ago, he was training as a PE teacher and playing semi-pro.

He was on the bench against France, but could he get a run out against Poland? Stranger things have happened...

Austria's Entrup set for Euro 2024 milestone after teacher training

Entrup previously plied his trade as a semi-professional footballer in the third-tier in his home country but is now a member of Ralf Rangnick's squad this summer.

Good afternoon!

Hello and welcome to Mail Sport's live coverage of the second of today's afternoon kick-offs - and the first of our Group D ties - as Poland gear up to take on Austria at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Every group stage match is a crucial one if you're trying to plot a course through a cohort dubbed the 'Group of Death'. But both Poland and Austria failed to secure even a solitary point in their opening clashes, link altenatif rusia777 making this match a tooth-and-claw scrap if either side have a hope of sneaking through to the knockout stages as a best third-placed team.

One major boost for Poland could be the return of a player Austria - or any side - would give their eye-teeth for: Robert Lewandowski. The Barcelona striker missed the first match through injury, but is hoping to start off his tournament in the German capital in just a few short hours.

You know the drill by now: kick-off is at 5pm, and in the meantime, we'll be bringing you all the team news, build-up, and more, ahead of the whistle.
